James Crowley joined the HollywoodLife team as a news writer in 2021. A New York-native, James graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2016, with a degree in English Literature. After graduation, James became a writer for Atwood Magazine, where he covered music, mainly of the indie rock and punk variety. While at Atwood, he interviewed a ton of artists, spanning genres, from Rebecca Black to Zeal & Ardor. Prior to HollywoodLife, James was a writer for Newsweek, where he covered music, comedy, politics and internet culture. He wrote about a wide range of topics including the 2020 election, COVID-19 pandemic, the viral Birds Aren’t Real movement, GameStop stock controversy, and much more. While at Newsweek, he interviewed a variety of stars including comedian Michelle Wolf, digital artist Beeple, former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, and Million Dollar Listing star Ryan Serhant.
